I have been in the cleaning business for nearly 25 years. Most all customers over the years come from referrals. The problem has always been winning a wide customer market for continued growth.
After becoming a member of BNI, the Trussville Chapter, doors opened to new customer bases never before accessible. Business is up by more than 35% and there is hardly ever a slow down.

The main thing I take away from the weekly meeting is, BNI is not about the 90 minute weekly meeting, it's about the positive actions of our members generating referrals from the time the meeting ends until the next begins.

I joined BNI 2/05 and I have benefited financially, emotionally and physically.
In round figures $6000 of commissions have been generated from referrals.
There is a continuing growth of confidence for speaking to a group of people. Learning comes from observing others. I have had similar training from being a member of Toastmasters when I had a real job. BNI puts you in a position to hone that skill set 50 weeks each year. Every meeting allows you to meet others and network. I have been honored to serve in leadership roles of visitor host and membership committee. The more you serve the more you gain from being a member.
The learning of others business allows you to give them referrals and also gives you people to do business with that you can completely trust. I have used our members for printing needs, business supplies, eye exams, personal training, legal, jewelry repair, photography and chiropractic.
From a health standpoint my membership in BNI has been life changing. Our member from Fitness Together, Donnie Warnock, in describing his personal training business caused me to look at my own lack of physical condition. Through his guidance for 6 months I now am equipped to maintain my physical condition. During his training he saw that I needed help with my shoulder I had injured in 4/06. He recommended I see Dr Stephen Edwards for rehab. This was my first Chiropractic experience and now after 6 months I feel that this natural treatment should be a persons primary care approach. His treatments have allowed me to be able to drive for hours and be pain free and sinus trouble appears to be stopped.
